  • The 30 Day Freelance Lifestyle E-Course has undergone a makeover…

For the last few months, I’ve been quietly working away on revamping the 30 Day Freelance Lifestyle e-course. Well, quietly unless you count my husband and several friends (Sam, Sally, Jo, Rosie, Jennifer and Elizabeth) who have put up with me constantly sending them bits and pieces for feedback.

There are a few reasons why I wanted to revamp the e-course:

    • I wanted to make it even easier for people to follow and go through, so I’m using Fedora to keep everything in one place. You can easily click through and go as fast or as slow as you like.
    • I wanted to include more videos and podcasts to make it more interactive.
    • I wanted to create something that people can do whenever, rather than have to wait until the 1st of the month.
    • I realised that email updates were great for the first week, but oh-so-easy to file away after that. An e-course you can visit and see your progress on seemed much more sensible

The result is an e-course that you can join whenever, follow at your own speed, interact with (thanks to the monthly Q&A Hangouts you’ll be able to access) and access anywhere thanks to the podcasts, videos and mobile-friendly site.

I’m so excited to reveal what I’ve been working on, and I hope you’ll love it too. In fact, I have a special offer for my blog and newsletter readers – until the 22nd September 2014, you’ll get a massive 50% off the e-course. PLUS the first five people to sign up get a free 1-2-1 consultation with me to discuss how you can further your career at the end of the course.

    The Freelance Lifestyle (1)

Want to be a freelance success? You don’t have to go it alone!

The thought of going freelance is exciting and a little bit terrifying, right?

    Does the below sound familiar?

    • You daydream of quitting that job that makes you dread Mondays, setting up on your own and working on projects that truly excite and empower you
    • After a few G&Ts down the pub, you complain to your friends and family about how dull you find your job, and how you’re not sure how you ended up doing what you do.
    • 70% of your conversations with your partner revolve around how unhappy you are in your job. (They’re a little bit fed up of telling you to do something about it. )
    • You’re looking for a career to work around your family, or want to earn a living while jet setting around the world
    • You get through your commute to work by visualising yourself sitting at your desk at home doing something you LOVE, rather than wedged between half a dozen people on a packed train towards a job that doesn’t give you butterflies each day.

But the journey to doing something you love, and going freelance, can seem daunting – especially when you’re not sure where to start or what to do next. The most common reason why people are nervous about making the jump? Money and security

Here’s the secret: Your job security is, on average, 30 days. The length of your work notice. As a freelancer with multiple clients, you’re actually MORE secure, as is your income, because you’re spreading the risk. You’re not relying on one employer.

    Tempted by freelancing?

The Freelance Lifestyle is here to take you through every step of your journey – from registering as a sole trader, to finding and dealing with clients, marketing yourself and chasing late payments.

What is the 30 Day Freelance Lifestyle E-course?

The 30 Day Freelance Lifestyle E-course is the kick in the pants you need to really get the ball rolling as a fully fledged freelance. It’s for anyone who wants to go freelance, or has started taking the first baby steps but wants guidance on not only starting their own business, but starting a SUCCESSFUL business.

How does the 30 Day Freelance Lifestyle E-course work?

The 30 Day Freelance Lifestyle E-course is based online on Fedora, which means you can dip in and out of it in your own time. It’s a mix of small and medium tasks so there’s something for every kind of day – whether you have a couple of hours or 30 minutes.

Each daily task will take you one step closer to your freelance goal, and includes a short podcast version for those of you who (like me) prefer to learn through audio. I like to keep things short, sweet and to the point, so each podcast will be just a couple of minutes long – perfect for listening to on the commute to work or while you’re waiting for the kettle to boil for your morning cuppa.

    What else do I get?

You’ll also have access to an EXCLUSIVE private Facebook group, where you can chat to other freelancers and discuss how you’re getting on. It’s the perfect place to grab some advice, discuss some new approaches or simply get a second opinion. You’ll be working alongside your fellow Facebook group members on each task, so you can discuss how you’re getting on.

I’ll also be holding monthly mastermind Hangouts on Google+, where you can pick my brains and bounce ideas around with other freelancers.

    What does the E-course cover?

    • How to write a freelancing business plan
    • How to find your freelancing niche
    • How to find your target market – and how to win their business
    • How to organise your freelance finances
    • How to draw up a contract
    • What tools to use to make the most of your time
    • Getting motivated – and what to do when you miss office life

  • I wrote a book! The 30 Day Freelancing Challenge

Well, it’s been a long time coming, but my 30 Day Freelancing Challenge is now available as an eBook thanks to Nikki Pilkington. And until Monday, it’s only £4! (It’ll go up to £8 then). It’s aimed at helping anyone who wants to escape the rat race set themselves up as freelance – and, as the name would suggest, it takes place over 30 days.

Nikki has a wide range of 30 day challenges for all sorts of online services, including, Facebook, Google+ and blogging. You can find all her challenges here, and my freelancing challenges here.

With rather excellent timing, this infographic landed in my inbox from PolicyBee. If you’re curious about freelancing, this gives a pretty good overview.

Oh, and if you enjoyed the 30 Day Challenge, I might be working on another one in the future…

  • It’s my 30th birthday – and I’ve got a bundle for you!

    shareasimage (22)

Eek! I turn the big 3-0 this month (and I’m secretly really excited).

*Hits play on the Kool and the Gang Greatest Hits album, brings out the bowls of Wotsits and Twiglets, attempts to have a boogie (which is easier said than done when you’re nearly 7 months pregnant).*

30-year-olds seem to have their shit together. And while I’ve had a ball in my twenties (especially since going freelance), I’m really excited for what the next decade has to come. Especially as this will be my last birthday before I learn how to juggle freelancing and *gulp* motherhood. So, I want to celebrate with you – by offering you TWO birthday bundles.

I’ve created two bundles – one for those just starting out on their freelance journey and one for those that have a little more experience.

[su_service title=”The Beginner Bundle” icon=”icon: hand-o-right” class=”a:link {http://www.freelancelifestyle.co.uk/tbuilder-layout/birthdaybundle }”]Contains the tools and resources you need to start out as self-employed, including the 30 Day To Freelance e-course, support of TWO Facebook communities and my Pitch Slap e-course. Value £279.00 – Price of bundle £149! [/su_service]

[su_service title=”The Experienced Bundle” icon=”icon: hand-o-right” class=”a:link {http://www.freelancelifestyle.co.uk/tbuilder-layout/birthdaybundle }”]Looking to take your business up to the next level? This is the bundle for you to ace outsourcing, collaborating, building a customer base as well as a client base PLUS a 1-2-1 with me to get a customised plan to move forward with. Value £259.00 – Price of bundle £149! [/su_service]

You see, I’d love to move into my thirties really helping other freelancers starting up their business, increasing their client base, finding new markets and breaking through income barriers. Wonderfully, a few of my freelance friends want to join me in this little online birthday party, by adding some goodies to the bundle.

    Jo GiffordOn-Off Awesome course

Each bundle contains essential e-courses from The Freelance Lifestyle and a medley of 1-2-1 consultations, ebooks and valuable extras from my freelancing friends – including coaching calls to help you run your business in three hours a day, increase your visibility, find out how a VA can help you, plus ebooks on adding creativity into your day and growing your contacts list.

Honestly, I can’t believe how much is going into these packages!

Oh, and each bundle offers a BIG discount on the full collection.

Here’s the kicker: It’s only available between 3rd-10th April

Intrigued? Come on over to my Birthday page and find out exactly what each bundle includes.

  • The Freelance Lifestyle answers YOUR questions this Thursday at 7.30pm!

This week’s Freelance Lifestyle Tea Break Challenge is a bit of a different one. If you’re on my mailing list, you’ll know that I emailed all my subscribers this morning with a FREE copy of the 30 Day Freelancing Challenge ebook. I did this for two reasons – 1) I really appreciate it when people take the time to sign up to and read The Freelance Lifestyle and 2) I get a bit ridiculous when the sunshine comes out.

Anyway, I wanted to follow that up with a Google+ hangout to answer any questions you might have about freelancing. It’ll be an hour long, and streamed live to YouTube, so if you miss it you can catch up there.

Want your question answered? You’ve got a few options.

I’ve recorded a three minute Freelance Lifestyle Tea Break Challenge below to go over the details.

What questions would YOU like answered?
